Description

The objective of the International Trainee Programme is to supply and develop talent that will help expand our capabilities to win and execute new business in growth markets.

Our trainee programme is an intensive 2 year ‘on-the-job’ learning experience, consisting of three 8-month assignments, covering different businesses and geographies within Aker Kvaerner.

The programme focus is to expose recent graduates various job assignments to broaden their experiences and provide guidance through their first professional steps.The different insights into our company will support the decision for a long term direction.

Workshops
Regular, intensive workshops will bring all the programme’s trainees together, building up your personal networks, sharing your experience and delivering relevant training from key Aker Kvaerner personnel and other carefully selected resources.

Mentoring Concept

The mentoring concept is integral to the success of International Trainee Programme. A personal mentor with extensive experience and coaching abilities will provide you as a trainee with continuity through the life of the programme.

The mentor will act as a resource for exploring current issues and areas for personal development;

  • help the trainee see the bigger picture
  • support the trainee outlining what opportunities there are
  • help provide valuable network
  • ease  transition into BU/ BA work culture/ corporate cultural habits

Individual follow up
Personal development plans based on your previous experience and future career goals, will be monitored with follow-up dialogues and individual evaluations.

Examples of placements

Three assignments make up the heart of the programme. Each will be a real job that will challenge you and allow you to make a real contribution to the business.

Through the assignments, you will acquire insight and hands-on experience into key business drivers, project execution and commercial thinking across the different global businesses in Aker Kvaerner.

More specifically you will contribute as a team member, and learn the key processes, procedures and tools in areas such as:

  • Business and project controls
  • Business development and sales
  • Financial management
  • Supply chain management
  • Business operations
  • Contract management and tendering
  • Project execution
Aker Kvaerner is represented in more than 40 countries, and the assignments can potentially be in any Aker Kvaerner locations worldwide, giving you as a trainee cross-cultural exposure.

Much effort will be put into designing the assignment schedule to fit each trainee’s background, capabilities and personal preferences.

After the program

Upon successful completion of the programme, trainees are encouraged to further develop their skills for a fulfilling and long-term career in Aker Kvaerner.

Requirements

Every year, we will offer positions to 10 successful business graduates who have: 

  • A Master Degree (or equivalentl) in Business Administration, Economics or related majors
  • Recently graduated, with a maximum of two years' post- university work experience
  • International experience 
  • Fluency in English and one or more of the following: Russian / Hindi / Malay / Norwegian
  • Practical experience from a technology or technology-related industry
  • Talent, with leadership potential
  • A realistic, “hands-on” approach
